EUROPA LEAGUE GROUP G CAN STILL BE WON BY ANY OF THE FOUR TEAMS

FC Porto’s away win to Young Boys leaves Group G open

BERN, 2019, NOVEMBER 28 – BSC Young Boys took an early lead with a sixth-minute goal from Christian Fassnacht. The home side won a free-kick after Jean-Pierre Nsame was fouled by Chancel Memba. Fassnacht scored from Ulisses Garcia’s set-piece cross as he headed into the bottom right corner.

However, a brace from FC Porto striker Vincent Aboubakar in four minutes (75’ and 79’) saw the Portuguese side snatch the victory. Moussa Marega squared up Aboubakar from the left of the box as he slotted the ball into the bottom right corner.

Minutes later, Young Boys conceded a corner and was connected by Marega, the ball fell to Aboubakar at the far post and the Cameroonian made no mistake from close range.

This result means that only three points separate first-placed Glasgow Rangers (8 points) who drew 2-2 with fourth-placed Feyenoord (5 points).

Porto and Young boys are in between with seven points each.

With the current standings, there is all to play for in the last round of matches as all teams in Group G stand a chance to progress into the knockout stages.
