SERGIO RAMOS MAKES EMOTIONAL RETURN TO SEVILLA AND LALIGA

2023, SEPTEMBER 04 – Veteran defender Sergio Ramos has made a highly anticipated return to his boyhood club, Sevilla FC, marking his comeback to LaLiga after a distinguished career at Real Madrid CF and a brief stint with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The 37-year-old footballer, who boasts an impressive collection of 22 trophies from his time at Real Madrid and three more with PSG, has signed a one-year contract with Sevilla, marking an emotional homecoming.

Ramos, who had been a free agent since his departure from PSG in the summer, had previously considered lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia and Turkey. However, he ultimately chose to join Sevilla, a club now competing in the UEFA Champions League group stages this season.

Expressing his emotions, Ramos stated, “Today is a very special day for me. Very emotional. I’m finally coming home, and I’m looking forward to the moment when I can feel the Sevilla shirt and have this crest on my chest again.”

Having risen through the ranks of Sevilla’s youth system, Ramos made his senior debut in February 2004 before making a move to Real Madrid in 2005. During his time with Los Blancos, he clinched five LaLiga titles and four UEFA Champions League trophies. Ramos also added two Ligue 1 titles and a Trophee des Champions to his list of honours during his brief tenure with PSG.

Prior to sealing his return to Sevilla, Ramos expressed his sentiments, emphasising the significance of this move to him personally and to the fans of Sevilla. He highlighted that it was time for him to fulfill a sense of duty to his family and the club where he began his professional journey. With this move, Ramos has rekindled his journey in LaLiga, the league where he made a name for himself as one of the world’s top defenders.
