SINGAPORE, 2025, MAY 31 – Lion City Sailors FC wrapped up their 2024/25 campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over BG Tampines Rovers FC in the Singapore Cup final, securing their second consecutive triumph in the competition and completing a domestic double.
Following a cagey first half at Jalan Besar Stadium, it was Dutch midfielder Bart Ramselaar who made the difference in the 49th minute. Latching onto a pass in the box, Ramselaar’s deflected shot beat Tampines goalkeeper Syazwan Buhari to give the Sailors the lead — and ultimately, the win.
The result capped off a dominant domestic season for the Sailors, who had already clinched the Singapore Premier League (SPL) title earlier in May, finishing eight points clear of second-placed Tampines. They also won the Community Shield at the start of the campaign, narrowly missing out on a treble after a dramatic injury-time loss to Sharjah FC in the AFC Champions League Two final.
Under the ownership of Forrest Li — billionaire founder of Sea and newly elected president of the Football Association of Singapore — the Sailors have now captured two league titles and back-to-back Singapore Cups, cementing their position as the country’s leading football side.
Despite falling short on the continental stage, the Sailors’ domestic dominance marks one of the most successful seasons in the club’s history.
