JDT COACH CONFIRMS RUMOURS OF FALCAO’S POSSIBLE MOVE TO MSL

2023, MARCH 01 – According to Johor Darul Ta’zim FC (JDT) head coach Esteban Solari, the club’s owner, The Crown Prince of Johor Tunku Ismail ibni Sultan Ibrahim, is currently working on the deal to sign Colombian striker Radamel Falcao.

Although Falcao is still contracted with LaLiga side Rayo Vallecano until June 2023, there are reports that he may sign a contract with JDT for the next two seasons before assuming a post-retirement ambassador role for the club and the state of Johor.

At the post-match press conference following JDT’s 3-0 victory over Kuala Lumpur City FC at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium on Wednesday night, Solari acknowledged the rumours linking Falcao to the team and he cannot provide any further details as it will be up to the boss to make the final call.

If the deal goes through, Falcao will make his Super League appearance after the second transfer window, which runs from 5 July to 1 August.

It is reported that Valencia CF, another LaLiga club owned by Singaporean business magnate Peter Lim, is also interested in signing the 37-year-old striker.

Falcao, who is nicknamed ‘El Tigre’, has played for several world-famous clubs including River Plate, FC Porto, Atlético de Madrid, Manchester United FC, Chelsea FC, AS Monaco and Galatasaray. He has won two UEFA Europa League titles with Porto in the 2010/11 season and Atlético Madrid (2011/12) in addition to helping Los Colchoneros win the UEFA Super Cup in 2012.
