MANCHESTER UNITED SIGNS WOMEN’S WORLD CUP GOLDEN BOOT WINNER MIYAZAWA

2023, SEPTEMBER 06 – Manchester United Women FC has made a significant signing by acquiring Japan international Hinata Miyazawa, who was awarded the Golden Boot at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™ for her exceptional performance. The midfielder, known for her attacking prowess, is joining Manchester United from WE League‘s MyNavi Sendai Ladies, where she has been since 2021 and will be donning the number 20 jersey.

During the Women’s World Cup, Miyazawa made headlines as the only non-European player to win an award, having scored five goals in just four games for the Nadeshiko. Their journey was halted in the quarter-finals by Sweden.

Expressing her excitement about joining the club, Miyazawa stated, “I am truly very happy to be part of this wonderful family and this great team. I am really looking forward to getting started and hope my style of play will excite our fans.”

Polly Bancroft, Manchester United’s head of women’s football, praised Miyazawa’s attacking abilities, saying, “After this summer’s Women’s World Cup, Hinata’s attacking quality speaks for itself. We are thrilled to welcome her to Manchester United and to European football.”

Financial details of the transfer have not been disclosed.
