JDT STUN K-LEAGUE CHAMPIONS ULSAN HD WITH 3-0 WIN IN ACL ELITE

ISKANDAR PUTERI, 2024, NOVEMBER 05 – Johor Darul Ta’zim FC (JDT) continued their impressive run in the AFC Champions League Elite (ACLE) East Zone with a commanding 3-0 victory over South Korea’s Ulsan HD at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Southern Tigers were dominant from the first whistle, outplaying the newly crowned K League 1 champions and handing them their fourth consecutive defeat in the competition.

JDT’s relentless pressing paid off early, with winger Arif Aiman Hanapi opening the scoring in the 8th minute. The 22-year-old capitalised on a mistake by veteran centreback Kim Young-gwon, dispossessing him and finishing coolly with a low drive past Jo Hyeon-woo. It was Arif Aiman’s fourth goal in as many matches in the campaign.

The home side doubled their lead in the 67th minute through Spanish-Filipino wingback Oscar Arribas, whose strike from outside the box took a wicked deflection off a Ulsan defender, leaving Hyeon-woo stranded.

Substitute Bergson Da Silva then put the result beyond doubt with a clinical finish inside the area, sealing a second consecutive 3-0 home win for JDT after their earlier triumph over Shanghai Shenhua on 1 October.

With this result, JDT moved up to third in the East Zone standings on seven points, while Ulsan HD remained rooted to the bottom without a point.
