THE DAY BEFORE FACES ANOTHER DELAY AS FNTASTIC REVEALS NEW TRAILER AND IMPORTANT UPDATE

2023, NOVEMBER 02 – The highly anticipated and controversial post-apocalyptic open-world MMO, The Day Before, has faced yet another delay, now scheduled for release on 7 December, 2023. However, it will initially launch in Early Access on Steam, with no word on a console release date.

Fntastic, the developer, has shared a significant update about the game, accompanied by a three-minute trailer. This marks The Day Before’s third delay, with the added surprise that it will debut in Early Access on Steam before consoles, contrary to their previous promises of no more delays.

While the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions will eventually be released alongside the full game, Fntastic has not provided any specific dates for their release.

Fntastic explained their decision, stating, “It will be Early Access on Steam since this is our first significant game, and there may be unforeseen circumstances. The full version release will occur when we are confident it’s the best version of the game, and we believe that player feedback and involvement will greatly contribute to achieving this goal.”

Additionally, Fntastic confirmed that they have successfully resolved the trademark dispute over The Day Before’s name. The Steam page has been reinstated by Valve and is set to be available “very soon.” The Steam page was removed in January 2023, leading to the previous 10 November release date, which was later admitted to be planned, not just a result of the dispute.

Fntastic expressed their gratitude to their dedicated volunteers who have supported the game’s development, even though the use of unpaid workers had sparked controversy.

Furthermore, the developer clarified that only these “volunteers” would have access to The Day Before’s long-awaited beta. Originally announced in April 2023, the beta was designed to provide players with a chance to try the game before its official release. However, it will now be accessible exclusively to the volunteers. According to Fntastic’s website, “External volunteering is an opportunity for those who are willing to offer their skills and talents to improve the Fntastic community, including various activities, from translation to community moderation.”

Fntastic won’t be accepting preorders for The Day Before but has confirmed that the Steam Early Access price will be US$39, and the full version will be priced at US$49.

The game’s minimum PC requirements have also been confirmed, including an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD equivalent processor, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD equivalent graphics card. While an SSD is preferred, HDDs are supported.

For recommended requirements, Fntastic suggests an Intel Core i7-8700 (3.2Ghz) or AMD equivalent processor, an NVIDIA GeForce 1080 Ti or AMD equivalent graphics card, and an SSD for high-quality settings.

The new trailer showcases character customisation, along with several new gameplay clips, featuring first-person combat, inventory management, and driving.

The Day Before has faced significant controversy during its development, with fans expressing concerns about the multiple delays, the use of unpaid workers, miscommunication, copycat allegations, and more.
