BALE ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

2023, JANUARY 09 – At the age of 33, Welsh footballer Gareth Bale has retired from professional football. The former Tottenham Hotspur FC and Real Madrid CF player had recently joined Los Angeles FC in Major League Soccer (MLS) last June, and helped the team win the MLS Cup and Supporters’ Shield.

Bale was once the world’s most expensive player and won several championships during his eight-season tenure with Real Madrid, including five UEFA Champions Leagues, three LaLigas, and three FIFA Club World Cups.

He is also the record holder for the most appearances and goals scored for the Football Association of Wales, having helped his country qualify for two European Championships and reach the semi-finals of UEFA EURO 2016, as well as their first FIFA World Cup since 1958.
