2023, MARCH 22 – Mesut Özil, the former Real Madrid CF and Arsenal FC midfielder, has announced his retirement from the professional football at the age of 34.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup winner represented his club and country in a total of 645 games, with 254 appearances for Arsenal over a period of seven years. Özil was a key contributor to the Gunners’ victories in the FA Cup finals of 2014, 2015 and 2017, having played a pivotal role in all three Wembley matches.
