BANGKOK, 2025, JANUARY 12 – The Thai League 1 2024/25 season, Matchday 16, took place on 12 January 2025, at BG Stadium. The match saw second-placed “The Angels,” True Bangkok United FC (30 points from 15 matches), hosting table-topping “Thunder Castle,” Buriram United FC (39 points from 15 matches).
The home side took the lead in the 14th minute when Mahmoud Eid chased down a ball near the left touchline and delivered a pinpoint cross into the center. Bassel Jradi made no mistake, rifling the ball into the back of the net to give True Bangkok United a 1-0 advantage.
In the 40th minute, True Bangkok United doubled their lead. Muhsen Al-Ghassani latched onto a through ball on the right side of the penalty area and calmly slotted it past Buriram goalkeeper Neil Etheridge into the far corner, extending the lead to 2-0.
Just before halftime, Buriram United clawed their way back into the match. Sasalak Haiprakhon sent a cross into the box, and Supachai Chaided powered a header into the net. Despite protests from the home side for an offside, a VAR review confirmed the goal, reducing the deficit to 2-1 at halftime.
Buriram came out determined in the second half, and their persistence paid off in the 65th minute. Theerathon Bunmathan delivered an inch-perfect corner, and substitute Guilherme Bissoli rose highest to head home the equaliser, making it 2-2.
The game seemed destined for a draw until injury time when True Bangkok United found a moment of brilliance. In the 90+2nd minute, Pratama Arhan set up Richairo Živković, who laid the ball off for Nitipong Selanon. Nitipong controlled the ball expertly before unleashing a powerful strike into the net, securing a dramatic 3-2 victory for the hosts.
