2025, JUNE 20 – Johor Darul Ta’zim FC (JDT) are set to face Spanish top-flight newcomers Levante UD in a pre-season friendly next month as part of their overseas training programme in Spain.
The Malaysian champions, now under the stewardship of newly appointed head coach Xisco Muñoz, will head to Europe for their pre-season preparations, with more friendly fixtures expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
“More friendly matches in Spain will be announced soon,” JDT revealed via their official social media channels on Friday. “Levante won the Segunda División in the 2024-25 season to earn promotion to LaLiga.”
Among the standout players in the Levante squad is 21-year-old attacking midfielder Carlos Álvarez. The young Spaniard enjoyed a breakthrough season with seven goals and 11 assists, earning him a contract extension that includes a €25 million release clause.
JDT, who continue their long-term ambition to become a dominant force in Asian football, see this Spanish training camp and competitive friendlies as a crucial step in raising their standards on and off the pitch.
