2024, AUGUST 17 – Brighton & Hove Albion FC brought in Fabian Hürzeler as head coach for the 2024/25 season, stepping in for Roberto De Zerbi.
At just 31 years and 173 days old, Hürzeler became the youngest permanent manager in Premier League history when he led Brighton to a commanding 3-0 win over Everton FC in their season opener at Goodison Park. Notably, he also became the first manager in the Premier League to have been born after the league’s formation.
Hürzeler arrived at Brighton from FC St. Pauli, where he had overseen the club’s promotion to the Bundesliga in the 2023/24 season.
In another milestone, Hürzeler was younger than five of Brighton’s senior squad when he took over, making him the second-youngest manager in Premier League history, interim or permanent.
