SINGAPORE, 2024, JULY 01 – The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) has announced the appointment of Shamir Osman as its new Chief of Marketing & Communications. Shamir, who brings 18 years of experience in media and communications, is expected to significantly bolster the organisation’s marketing and communications efforts.

Shamir’s most recent role was with Lion City Sailors FC, where he set up and led the club’s communications and content department. Under his leadership, the department laid a strong foundation for fan and stakeholder engagement. Before joining the Sailors, Shamir worked as an account director for a regional public relations consultancy and was a prominent football journalist with various media organisations.

In his new position at FAS, Shamir will head the communications and marketing teams, offering strategic communications guidance and overseeing all stakeholder engagement activities.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Shamir said, “Football has always been in my blood. As both a supporter and critic of local football, whether in newsrooms or within the football community, my drive has always been to enhance our football ecosystem. This role offers me the chance to contribute to that effort, and I look forward to the challenge.”

Yazeen Buhari, General Secretary of FAS, welcomed the appointment, stating, “The FAS has collaborated with Shamir in various capacities over the years. He has consistently demonstrated an ability to understand grassroots perspectives while also grasping the broader challenges facing football in Singapore. I am confident that he will have a positive impact on our association.”

Shamir will officially assume his role at the FAS on 15 July 2024.
