As both a supporter and critic of local football, whether in newsrooms or within the football community, my drive has always been to enhance our football ecosystem. This role offers me the chance to contribute to that effort, and I look forward to the challenge.”

Yazeen Buhari, General Secretary of FAS, welcomed the appointment, stating, “The FAS has collaborated with Shamir in various capacities over the years. He has consistently demonstrated an ability to understand grassroots perspectives while also grasping the broader challenges facing football in Singapore.
