BRUNEI DPMM FC ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE OF HEAD COACH RUI CAPELA

2024, JULY 10 – Brunei DPMM FC has announced that head coach Rui Capela has decided to depart from the club, citing “personal reasons.” His departure marks the first managerial change of the 2024/25 Singapore Premier League (SPL) season.

Appointed in January 2024, Capela began his tenure with two consecutive wins. However, the team has recently endured a four-match winless streak (three losses and one draw), currently placing them fifth in the league standings.

The Portuguese coach’s final match in charge was a 4-2 loss to Balestier Khalsa FC on July 5, 2024. Confusion arose when the club announced his departure on their official website just hours before kick-off, attributing it to “personal problems,” a claim that Capela later refuted.

Jamie McAllister, a former Scotland international defender with assistant coaching roles at Bristol City FC, Sunderland AFC, Hibernian FC, and Bristol Rovers FC, has been appointed as DPMM’s new head coach.
