A goal from Antonio with just seconds left on the clock secures a win at the Palau in Barça’s first home game of the season.
BARCELONA, 2024, OCTOBER 18 – Futsal returned to the Palau Blaugrana 137 days later, with an exciting and dramatic victory in the second league match against Quesos Hidalgo Manzanares FS. The star of the show was Antonio Pérez, whose two goals – one coming with only 10 seconds remaining to break a tie – proved decisive. This win gave FC Barcelona their first three points of the season, marking a triumphant return to the Palau and kicking off their league campaign with a victory.
Manzanares strikes first
The first half was a tough, hard-fought battle with few scoring chances. Barça found it difficult to create opportunities on the court, with Dyego‘s strike nearly catching out Dani Juárez. Manzanares, however, capitalised on one of their limited chances, as Álvaro López put them ahead (0-1, 15th minute).
Barça’s rapid response
The 0-1 score held through halftime, despite Fits testing Juárez in the final moments of the half. In the second half, Barça upped the tempo, with Antonio, Dyego, and Fits pushing into the attack.
Barça’s persistence paid off, and the goals followed. Touré leveled the game with a quick spin and finish (1-1, 29th minute). Antonio then delivered a brilliant individual goal after receiving a perfectly timed pass from Fits (2-1, 32nd minute). Barça completed the comeback in quick fashion and had a chance to extend their lead with a double penalty after Manzanares’ sixth foul, but Dyego couldn’t convert.
Antonio’s winning moment
Manzanares, searching for an equaliser, used a fly goalkeeper. Daniel Gabriel scored the equaliser (2-2) in the final minute, seemingly securing a draw (39th minute).
But with just 10 seconds left, Antonio took the spotlight again. Positioned outside the area, he struck a shot that found the back of the net, sealing the victory (3-2, 40th minute). It was a crucial win for Barça, the first under coach Tino Pérez, and a perfect start at home for the season.
